I want to store my spare inside my 2014 D90, preferably on a stand up bracket, or something else that makes things nice and safe & tidy for the dog in the back, but not too permanent that I cant revert to back door when I head out on a trip . Have you seen this done? TIA.

...or something else...

Maybe get a look at the Classic Range Rover method. Dished depression in wheel arch in which the wheel sits, then straps to hold tight.

I saw this (https://ibuiltkits.com/product/floor_mounted_spare_wheel_holder/?gclid=CjwKCAiAk--dBhABEiwAchIwkRwUSCBdSYn8PgVOhkQMHYtjh3c2JypiVwAo0 EW32fcOKfozPNWmWBoCP3wQAvD_BwE) when I researched carrying an extra spare for disco.
economical at $149.
I have no idea how well they work. The wheel would certainly need to be ratchet down quite tightly.
pls let us know how you get on.
best. Jeff

What about a false floor and the wheel lying under it?

Yep, was thinking that as a fall back option. I've seen stand up brackets in the back of Euro SUV's. I will have the rear seats folded, and likely will remove one permanently. Cheers and thanks for the idea

Jeffoir's suggestion made me think you could use two wheel chocks, if you could figure how to secure them and easily release them. In practice you should chock wheels when changing a tyre so double duty.
