DAB Radio Problem

I have a Projecta Lithium charger in the cargo area of my D4 charging an under-floor battery and when it is charging the battery it interferes with the DAB radio signal. Also, I have LED reversing lights and when I put it into reverse, it interferes with the signal as well. Any thoughts to solve the problem?

The radio antenna is in the lh rear window glass IIRC. A battery charger is probably generating or amplifying interference, weird that it's DAB as that's a digital signal, so it works or it doesn't, whereas FM you'll hear the whine or hiss through the signal.

I had led reversing lights and no interference from them on the radio whatsoever, its such a low amperage they draw. I'd be checking your cable earths and radio connections.

Seems to me something else is going on.

Yeah, but there's LED reversing lights, and then there's LED reversing lights. Most of them use some form of constant current buck converter and some of them are really noisy. They spew RF hash all over the place because they are built without any care for emissions. Hey Luigi "We're not fancy, but we're cheap!".

Based on my experience in solving the interference signal it will be very hard to impossible sometime if you can not find the sources of noise or if you do not use the right parts/solutions.

In this case, it seems like you have already found the sources, then I suggest you do those solutions to see how it goes.

1. LED reverse lights:

DIODE: using 2 different diodes that rates about 5A - 10A 12V to put in the negative and positive wires for each reverse lights (you need 4), this will block the interference signal goes back to the car's wiring system.

If the above solution does not work for you, then try using 2 x Power Stabilizer (normally this is used for a reverse camera in an European cars) to add in between the power wires for the reverse lights.

In the meantime, try buying a different types of LED globes that has CANBUS ERROR FREE Chips built-in.

2. Projecta charger.

You need to draw a full diagram of your setup first (with all relevant power details of the parts in the setup) then post here and I think someone in the forum can have a check and see what can be done to reduce the noise.

I buy all my led lights etc from Stedi.com.au, never had snow issue with RF, top quality gear at reasonable prices.
