I want--- without data loss
I will accept--- data loss

not as simple as it seems,
windows has exfat, but not fat32

lots of things say they can,, but then dont.

Whatever happened to that Hirens disc I had...

in case you are wondering, the new big $$ "Smart" TV in the van only works on good ole fat32..
the elcheapo it replaced worked on anything...

If I plug all of that into a translation app would it spit out " My new not so smart TV won't play from my external media "? Are we talking movies? If so ( stab in the dark ), can your idiot box accept new apps? If it can, see if it can accept VLC. VLC is an app that can play pretty much anything. Some TVs will allow it. Android TV - How to Install and Use VLC Media Player (https://www.vlchelp.com/android-tv-how-to-install-and-use-vlc-media-player/)

If that fails read this: 5 Methods to Convert NTFS to FAT32 without Losing Data[2021] (https://recoverit.wondershare.com/partition-management/ntfs-to-fat32-without-losing-data.html#:~:text=Windows%20Disk%20Management,-Finally%2C%20you%20can&text=Step%201%3A%20Open%20the%20Disk,will%20be%20f ormatted%20to%20FAT32).

I think I'll stick with Mac.

Acronis I think can do it, it is on the Hirens image Hiren's BootCD PE (https://www.hirensbootcd.org/)
Probably easier to get another disk and format it then copy the data over.

Fat32 loses the extra data attributes (if any) and has the 4gig file limit

Don’t know of any utility that will do that with any reliability

4 Gig is ample for most movies without extras, if that is what's wanted here.

Still, it's hard to credit that a "modern" smart anything would limit itself this way.

Yes its a movie drive, about 1.3ish TB on a 2TB My Passport WD..
I have multiple movies inside some folders, I think the "Marvel" folder is around 49GB??

I have already copied the drive elsewhere--- took around 8 hours last night...

just how to format it in fat32......

I found AOMEI Partition assistant on a storage drive and while it wouldnt convert it without data loss, it will reformat it..

so just another 8 hours and Di will have her movie drive back.....

Of course, you could invest in a wifi hotspot your drive connects to.. Then she could watch her movies on the TV, and you could watch something else on a laptop in the doghouse.
