went camping out at boonah on the weekend, the little bit of rain on the friday loosened the tracks up just nice

after we had found the right track up a hill my mate in his 100 series cruiser decided to drive across the side of a hill to meet up with the track and slid sideways nearly resting the rig on a tree, his winch was at 90 degrees to the car stopping him from sliding, everything we tried only made the cruiser slide closer to the tree, the only way out was to pull the tree down, i drove as far up the hill as i could, three snatch straps joined together i snatched the tree down, with the aid of the winch we were able to reverse while winching to get the cruiser back facing up the hill, no damage apart from one toyota drivers ego, best thing his wife took the pic and sent it to me

the tree is just behind the drivers door with about 10mm between it and the cruiser

The Defender actually looks like it is stalking the Toyota in the long grass.

That is not the sort of thing that should be put in a public forum, where it can be used by those that oppose our recreation.

IMHO this thread should be edited or deleted.

i would have to disagree, gee i don't reckon anybody would have seen this post as distruction of the environment

the owner of the property works closely with the department of natural resources on land clearing as this is a working cattle property. the owner is required to work with satelite images and submit maps with gps plotted areas and pictures of the vegitation before any land clearing happens. if you look at the pic you will notice most of the trees have been poisioned as a result of approved land clearing, the tree we pulled over was dead, if we didn't pull it over it would have fallen over in due course. we worked for close to an hour trying numerous methods to move the vehical without damage to the property and vehical. pulling over the tree was the last option we looked . as it was we needed three snatch straps in place to ensure the recovery was safe, which it was.

if the moderators advise that i need to edit the post than i will, but i would guess there would be numerous other posts that will have to follow suit along with pics in the gallary

i have been a member of a couple of 4wd clubs over the years and suppport the tread lightly and the don't destroy what you came to enjoy campaigns

Gotta disagree there I'm afraid.

I know Weeds well and he's not irresponsible at all. Also I don't think it shows anything irresponsible, and 4WDTV which is shown around the country shows plenty of rougher / damaging stuff than that.

Sure they film on private land, but so is this photo.

(The rumours about Weeds' 2nd head however are true)

Not knowing the full circumstances when I read the opriginal post I was mildly concerned that the post was advocating tree removal as a method of recovering vehicles. Now that a fuller account is available it's clear that you acted very responsibly. :)
... and yes, neat photo! :D
