2016 Disco 4 Landmark . . . top leather dashboard failure

Hi guys, hoping someone has come across this before . . . we purchased a 2016 Landmark in about 2018. It's been a great car as the family workhorse. In the last couple of years the brown leather dashboard top has just completely fallen apart, all of the stitching has come apart and the glue I'm assuming that holds it to the dash near the front windscreen has just completely disintegrated. So we now have a very ugly dashboard with multiple rolls through it . . . I'm going to take it into Land Rover and I expect it'll cost a fortune to fix . . . wondering if this has been a problem with this model? Anyone heard of this or had similar issues? I have the 'poverty pack' (forget what LR call it) 2016 D4 and to avoid this happening fitted a cover but still go over it with a leather conditioner although it's not leather really. :)
With the heat that comes through the screen I think it's the only way to stop the rot and although I haven't seen other Landies with the problem, I have seen lesser vehicles with it shredded plus the door tops as well.
Not that that will help you so it looks like a new one is the only way forward and yes it'll be pricey no doubt about that.

A trimmer could re-trim it for you or fit a dash mat, i wouldn't bother going to a dealer for it.

I wonder if a previous owner cleaned it with a solvent that destroyed the stitching and material?? Because failure of the dash top is not really a known failure point?

Certainly seems odd given the age. Poms usually do leather really well.

My 2014 HSE virtually lives outside in the sun and doesn't get a birthday more than extremely occasionally and it's fine.

This would be my vote, my door card recently went funny where my elbow lives. 9 yrs of the same Meguiar's interior cleaner. No problems.. after a detail. Well. It's not right. Unfortunately most cleaners do attack the surface a little too bring it to life. Or death

After 9years of D4 ownership not a hint of material failure in the cabin. Had a dash cover for less than half that time, and plenty of outside hours.

I would second the notion that a chemical attack of some kind. They are not known to fail, unlike 70s era Kingswoods...

Cause of failure: many possibilities…those listed above I could agree with.

Solution: last place on earth I’d go to…a Landrover Dealership.
Personally, I’d investigate a car detailing / trim replacement or an aftermarket cover.
A wrecking yard might have many options, but the fitment would possibly be a PITA.
