Buy 1200mh NI-MH battery 4/5AA

I have had two FSC hand held UHF radios for 10 years and they work great.

Recently one of the batteries has failed and the old battery is no longer available. I have pulled the casing apart and they use 1200mh NI-MH batteries 4/5AA batteries.

I have been to Jaycar and searched online only found one listing on ebay but is located in Canada so all up I might as well just buy a new radio.

So anyone know where I can buy 1200mh NI-MH batteries 4/5AA in Aust?

Nup. I re-celled some packs for some cordless rotating tools a few years ago (cheap Dremel knock-off) and ended up getting them from fleabay.

Quality was variable.

I use them when I want specific 18650 cells for pack re-builds. Not cheap, but quality isn't variable either.

Thanks for that link - Master Instruments did not come up on my previous searches.

They are FDK cells which are the same as I am looking to replace. Shame they do not have a price listed on the site. I have emailed them but I expect they will be expensive.

I've been pleasantly surprised on their Li-ion cell pricing in the past. I did have to put the order through my company though. They wouldn't sell to me as an individual.

Edit : Plenty on E-bay. Looks like ~$5/ea for cheap ones and $15/ea for quality. Guess it depends on what the radio is worth and how many times you want to do the job.

I re-packed a USB power bank recently. The unit itself was nearly $200 and lasted just past the warranty period with sub-standard LG cells (was down to ~60% of advertised capacity). I spent another $132 on quality Panasonic cells last Feb and it has been a beauty ever since. They were near enough to $15 each. I can't see 1100mAh NiMh being that much, but then I don't really know.

Thats interesting - I searched '1200mh NI-MH batteries 4/5AA batteries' on ebay and only came up with one listing - and australian listing but posts from Canada.

I will search again.

I just searched 4/5aa and got 13 hits.

Drawing a blank on this so might have to try in China with the risks that involves.

Only one supplier found that can supply the 5 I need but they want over $16 each which is just too much. A couple on ebay but only have one battery, plenty of suppliers like Amazon have them listed but nil stock.

There are 2/3 AA available but that means a much lower capacity .

I will just keep looking.
