View Full Version : Fenders on a novated lease

I started checking out about buying a good 2nd hand or brand new fender.

Idea is to get a loaded fender onto a novated lease when I start my new job in a couple of weeks.

2nd hand... few and far between. They do come up but friggin lease company will not lease unless from a dealer and only then based on wholesale value (eg: redbook).... how the hell you find a decent vehicle for this and then beat down a dealer to get a wholesale price I'll never know???

So ok.... then I started thinking new. New fenders only come out from the UK these days which means "white" roof only. My 2000 model has a white roof but south african models with full colour coding for me looks ten times better. I'm not too crash hot on a fully white landy but could be an option (SWMBO will most probably not approve anyway).

Then... if I get a new one I need to get basic accessories like snorkel, wheel carrier, etc it'll push up the 50K+ price even higher....!!!!!!!!

All I want is a late model fender with a few options that I can lease short term and die-in long term. Just don't know where and how to get it.....

ARGHHH I'm not after answers I guess. Just venting!!

You lease company must be harsh. I have mine on a lease. Only rules was that it couldn't be over 10 years old at the end. I found the vehicle and told them what it was and how much and they did the rest. I also know that a lot of people sell their own vehicle to the lease company to lease back.

Thats what I was going to suggest, but get it rebuilt to your standard in the process:)

Hey Bluetongue,

When you say lease company, do you not have an alternative, as a finance broker I have organised novated leaseses on both dealer vehicles and also private. The definition of a novated lease is as follows ( not saying you dont know) A three-way agreement between the employer, employee and finance company which requires the employer to meet the terms of the lease arrangement for the duration of the lease or until the conclusion of the employment contract should this occur during the life of the lease.

In other words, from the employers perspective as long as the $$ are within the package supplied it doesnt matter who finances said vehicle. I come across this all the time in various forms. Id organise to go through a broker and get them to sort it for you.

Hmmm

I went expressly for a white roof.. Air Conditioning is bad enough without having a heat soak up there.. Every little bit helps..

Max I'm shocked to hear Tusker is white. I thought it was more a yellowish brown with optional sulphury smelling water marks.

Thanks for the feedback fellas... never thought of selling mine to the lease company then leasing it back.

I'll check it out in more detail with the new company... at the moment they just pushed me onto leaseplan.

what year is yours bluetounge?

2000 td5 defender 110, 116000 k's

it's actually good, I love it, but with my new job I'll be doing about 8000 k's per year for work and at least 20000 k's per year for pleasure (not including any w/e trips) so was thinking of getting a later model with less k's....

that might not be an advantage, by keeping the one you have you know its been looked after, reliable so is probably as good as a new one. Besides if you can hold off until the update is available and get one with the new 2.7L Engine. Follow the link to my website and scroll down the page for all the details. Besides the engine upgrade there are said to be some interior and exterior changes aswell (see the other thread in the general forum)

Iv'e just finalised the lease on a new Fender. With the discount given to the finance company ( dropped it to $43K) I was able to add in $8500 worth of ARB extra's and the vehicle price came in at just over $51K.

Considering that the Stealer's wanted $44K for a 04 model with 60K on the clock i thought it was a good option...

Now i just have to break the news to the Disco.. poor girl will be heartbroken

That exterior / interior combination isn't in the cattledog. I looked, but no luck. Had to settle for white when ordering.

Don't forget the higher your milage the better the lease often is. I do 47,000k's so only pay 7%FBT.
For your info I'm with smartsalary as they are the only ones we can use. Another option is an associate lease where your partner owns the vehicle and leases to you through the salary people. That method removes any age issues and she claims depreciation and any loan repayments from the income she get from you.
