As you may already know I have had some problems with a insubordanate Ticker.

The FACTS:

The mud pit was not to blame!!!
I was however reading the general chat pages when the chest pain started.

Who knew typing could be so stressful!! :D

I have had a few minor niggles over the past few weeks that I had seen the local GP for, Tuesday saw day 2 of some upper abdominal pain, I finished my Courier run on tuesday and started to have some severe chest pains when I got home (Whilst reading the days postings on AULRO).

Here's were it gets scarey.!!!!

We only live less then 3 mins away from the hospital. I told the other half to trow the kids in the Rangie and get me to the Hospital (Her Driving as I thought it would be safer at the time). After nearly suffering Multiple Attacks on the way due to an inability to drive sensibly ( I didn't know you could do half of that stuff with a Rangie:eek: ).

Arrived at Emergency notified them of the chest pains etc. I was asked to give my details to the Receptionist first......   . Then I was told to have a seat.....   . I waited a few minutes the was asked to enter a pre-check room (A CHAIR next to the one the first nurse was sitting on!!). They took my blood Pressure and then it was battle stations. Nurses and Doctors running every where I didn't really know what all the fuss was about all of a sudden compared to the she'll be right attitude on arrival.
They poked, prodded and asked the same questions over and over again.
End result tuesday night was I was having a heart attack, (WHICH I TOLD THEM WAS WEIRD CAUSE I DIDN"T HAVE A HEART:twisted: ). further attacks through out the night.

Wednesday morning was more tests.
First up was a Stress test, ( I told them I was really stressed already "What this isn't stressing enough??")
Stress test Completed and failed. (FIRST test I have ever failed, NOT Fair I didn't have time to study) another attack during the test.
Wednesday arvo yet more attacks, Booked in for Angiograph thursday.
doctors spent the rest of the dya scaring the **** out of me with all the potential side effects of the angiograph. I.E. Bypass surgery at RNS Hospital which would need for me to be taken via rescue helicopter to said hospital. A fatal heart attack, a Blod cot forming in the leg needing amputation, stoke, etc......
Family comes to visit Wednesday night, Yet another more serious attack in front of the kids, not so bad for the youngest but the oldest     Scared ****less.

Thursday of to Gosford Hospital.
Great ride via ambo (NOT!!!)
Yet another attack midway no meds on board ambo, on goes the lights and sirens, Ambo driver says "hold on for us mate we'll be there soon"

Meds on arrival at Gosford, Waited for hours for Angiograph.
That done, the Doctor says "PIPE'S CLEAN IT's gotta be something else."
Yet another 2 attacks through out te rest of the day.

Today

Had a ultrasound on the heart (I TOLD the operator I Didn't think My HEART was pregnant but they were the professionals)

Results Heart was normal.
Conclusion it must be refered pain from my "NOW" suspected Gallstones, which I now have to wait until next week to have a scan on to check it out.

Mean while I am home and still in pain, although the good part is it isn't my heart, SEE TOLD YA'S I DIDN'T HAVE ONE!!!!!

P.s. Thanks for all the nice thoughts while I was in hospital.

We are all glad to hear you are sparking on at least 3 cyls!

A quick test to see if it is gall stones is to have a nice fatty meal. Eggs, bacon, fried bread, etc. You get the idea. If after eating that you have chest pains and feel like death warmed up then it is gall stones. Another way is to do the opposite. Stay off all forms of fat, and black coffee, although this might not help if the stones are blocking the canal or if the gallbladder is inflamed. OR you could just wait for the Dr to do a xray.
Good luck mate

Mate,

Welcome back to the land of the living (and I use the term "living" loosely in the context of this forum:p)

Your story of the reception at the Hospital reminds me of another true story told me once by a nurse who worked in an emergency dept:

A punter turned up to the A&E and the receptionist interrogated the punter...full name and address, grandmother's maiden name, allergies insurance details and finally after ten minutes of inquisition:

Receptionist: "What seems to be the problem?"

Punter gripping the counter: "I have got a bloody axe embedded in my ****** leg"

Never know I may just convince the Warden to an early release date and make it Dinner Saturday night, probably a big ask but as long as I stay out of the bush I should be OK.
Never Know your luck in the Big smoke, I'll tell her it's for my Birthday Next year....hahaha

Jason -- glad to hear you are OK.

I was at a funeral last Saturday of a close friend who had a heart attack aged 34...very sad.

He had quit the 'corporate life' to head down the coast to surf and write. He had a massive heart attack while surfing.

Life is way too short.

Just keep looking after yourself dude!

Glad to hear it wasn't the heart, but I do think I've found the problem for you. I found this on the "Bio Fuels" thread

My mechanic pointed this out to me at my last service ... At first I was cynical but what the hell if it saves me $300 a week why not at least give it a try. He advises to cold filter it ... He also suggested installing a small tank to start and finish ...

As for what it does to your engine his best selling point was with the money I'd save I could buy a new one within 2-3yrs.

Just what have you been running on?

Seriously, glad it wasn't your "engine". Like a Land Rover, you can take a lot of the other parts out without affecting performance.

I think it was Wednesday night when they told me the potential side effects of the Angiogram (Open heart surgery) when reality hit home of just how serious this was, Scared the B-JESUS H CRIST out of me. Up until then I thought the chances of it being Heart related where nil, Because I am only 33. Seriously I hadn't thought about the future I was strictly one day at a time live for now tomorrows to far away to worry about, silly part is with out worrying about tomorrow I won't be here to see it.

But I had heaps of time to reflect and do all those If you just let me live god I'll..... things. And the I Am sorry I made fun of the ..................people who drive Toyota's ........ But they deserved it:twisted:

In short, Life is just that here today and gone in a blink of an eye. It doesn't take long to Die, but it takes a life time to live.
Live Together Die Alone, unless of course you just hi-jacked a plane then you'll have people to hold your hand:twisted:   .

Good to hear you're well Yabbie.

Your heart medication, if they gave you Anginine (GTN) will also work well for your gall bladder!!:)

No one actually prescribes this :( , but if I suspect a heart attack and give a patient with Gall Bladder pain GTN, then the pain is relieved  .

WHY? GTN is a vasodilator (dilates the smooth muscle around blood vessels), it also dilates the pancreatic duct and reduces the pain of any stones wedged in there.

As it dilates the blood vessels it drops blood pressure (same volume now in a greater area); the reduction in blood pressure means less force for your heart to overcome with each beat, hence reduces heart pain by reducing the hearts workload and oxygen demands. Beware, a reduction in Blood Pressure can make you faint.

I suppose all those doctors have already told you not to mix GTN with performance enhancing drugs (viagra, cialis etc).

Anyway, the point being that if your pain resolved with GTN at the hospital, they would first suspect a heart attack.

I do not envy you the rest of the pain you will have. Remember, it's character building (as if someone with Land Rovers needed any more character).

yabbie, i was watching anatomy for beginners on SBS on monday night and they were doing the whole digestive system from mouth to anus. they explained what each organ in the chain did as they cut them up in front of you.
be wary, problems with the gall bladder can be serious. if the bile ducts become blocked, the pancreas which is right next door, can also get blocked and this leads to latham's desease or pancreatitis as it is commonly known. what this means is that the digestive juices that the pancreas pumps out have no where to go and the pancreas gets inflamed while it begins DIGESTING ITSELF!
hope this makes you feel a bit better.
good to hear you're not getting a bypass.although there are some areas of the central coast that should be bypassed
