I have been told (by my trusted indie mechanic) I need to replace the EPB in my 2010 RRS TDV8. The park brake got stuck on, but I managed to get it unstuck without resorting to pulling the cable, but simply restarting the car..... and there were none of the reported squealing or grinding noises I have read about.
The brake shoes were completly worn out on the passenger side all now rebuilt.
Mechanic has said the EPB module needs replacing. about $2k. new OEM part. Price seems to be about the same here in Oz as it would be to import on from the UK.
I have read about the job and it does appear to be difficult.
Has anyone else had this issue and been able to just continue using the same EPB module?
Any advice re using a second hand unit, more like $500, or a non OEM part about $750.
I rarely use the park brake, and do almost no off road work, just occasional dirt roads.
