Guys,
My old Defender is due for new Shocks (see attached photo). - NOTE: Not looking for HIGH end/expensive shocks - no remote res for the moment...
I was thinking of changing to PIN-PIN at the rear but Shock options are limited as most of the ones I've come across are for the FRONT of the vehicle.
From looking at the Superior website, I have a couple of options for shocks that will maximise my wheel travel...
I can do the following:

I can change to a EYE-EYE option by buying the Superior bottom rear Eye Adapter. Shock Options are greatly increased by doing this.
I can change to a PIN-EYE option by again buying the Superior bottom rear Eye Adapter & Kingpin Eye-Pin Adaptor bracket(actually already got this). Shock Options are increased plus if I needed to replace a failed shock in the outback, my chances are increased as this is what the Cruisers run in the rear.

What are peoples thoughts in regards to what is the best option?

Any other options out there? (note: not really wanting to stick with oem setup)

If you are not doing ... extreme hard core bluh bluh offroading, extreme remote offroading..... etc etc
*Then why re-invent the wheel.
*Why go for the ultimate shock that can be rebuilt (i think i read on here somewhere that a rebuilt X brand was dearer or at least the same price as a new one)

*I consider Terrafirma great value for money, sure its not the ultimate (supposedly) but in all the years I have been fitting them to customers Defenders i've had very little issues, i think 2 or 3 leaking, one broken like yours.

I fitted Billies before we start our lap…..even after a lengthy conversation with the Aussie Landy Shop they were topping out on the Simpson….not even one month into trip.

Fitted terrifirma pro’s, I think that’s what they are called…….seem value for money and still going strong 11 months on.

Did take 5 days to get to Alice Springs, but as the billies hadn’t failed we went exploring for a few dayz while the new shocks were in transit.

I’m not so sure a Toyota’ shock will be an off the shelf item in every town.

I've got Terrafirma in the front but I don't believe they are suited to the coils I have in the front. I need to upgrade the front coils anyhow...

I've got my rear coils tied in top and bottom and just want to maximise my wheel travel as I'm currently open diffed.

I went pin-pin when I upgraded springs and shocks but I was looking a 2 inch lift and longer travel. Fitted Koni Raids with 11.5 inches of travel and progressive springs.
Shock mounts from Kingpin Design and Fabrication..... SUSPENSION COMPONENTS
– KINGPIN Fab (https://kingpindesignandfab.com.au/collections/suspension-components)

yes its taken me quite a bit of playing around with different shocks, loads customers are carrying and Defender model.

As the Ford engine is lighter than the previous model TD5 I generally go for a medium load coil both front and back, a heavy load coil in the rear if customers are loading it up a bit.
The Perentie is different again, I go for a heavy load coil on the front with the big bore shocks on the front, medium coils on the back with sports pro on the back.
in either std height or 2" over std height.

my comments are in ref to Terrafirma brand, others will have a better idea with other brands.
In general I just dont see what advantage is had with different types of mounts, your in part re-engineering a vehicle for little if no benefit except bling.
