Hi First time poster here go easy please.
Been working on a 2009 D3 2.7 diesel. This vehicle has an intermittent oil light problem. I have hooked a gauge up and the oil pressure is fine. Wiring has been checked between cluster and sensor and ended up running a new wire. Have also replaced the sensor. To day light illuminated again. What am I missing? Is there a chance the cluster has an internal fault causing the light to come on intermittently.
Cheers

I think it was fixed by 2009, however are you aware of the oil pump design change for the 2.7?
Otherwise, fault codes are everything - get an iidtool, as it’s arguably more useful than a spanner :-)

Can I ask how you determined the oil pressure “as fine?” Based on what the manual says it’s set for? I assume you measured it where the sensor is?
When is it lighting up? At idle, at revs?

The clusters do play up in this area.

I don’t think you can get engine oil pressure through the Gap tool it’s a warning light only.
It’s why LR time and others added a manual gauge.

I mentioned the tool, as there is a warning light on, so I figured the computer had to know something / store a fault?

Not for an oil pressure warning. Light comes on, dash goes *ding* and that's about as far as it goes.

Sometimes literally, unfortunately.
