I am almost embarrassed to ask this question. We are travelling overseas for several months and I was going to disconnect the battery so it doesn't go flat. Question is how do I then lock the car???

Don’t disconnect.
Attach a multistage charger and leave it on.

Open bonnet - lock car - remove/disconnect battery - close bonnet.
To open when you get back - use the emergency unlock process via the passenger door - open the bonnet and reconnect battery.
Make sure the emergency unlock works before hand.

Will have to check but I don't think the car will lock with the bonnet open. Will come back to you.

Before you do anything, you need to make sure your battery is in the best condition and in a fully charged state.
To do this simply put a battery charger on your battery, every night for at least a few days before you go.
Most lead acid batteries will not last a few months without a charge but if you get your battery into a good state charge beforehand, you will give it the best possible chance to hold a decent charge over that long period.

If it doesn't,it is not difficult to bridge the bonnet switch out.

But this thread is NOT about a D3/D4 it is about a RRS L320 and as I said open the bonnet, lock the car - the horn will sound once but the car is locked.

D3 locks. It's the D4 that doesn't.

Which probably also means the early RRS L320 do and the later RRS L320 don’t.

Hello All, Just a quick update as we are back from our 7 1/2 month travels. I couldn't lock the car with the Bonnet open, car would beep and not lock. I ended up disconnecting the main battery and the auxiliary battery (which i took out of the car) connected the main battery wires to the Auxiliary battery out of the car, closed the doors and bonnet then disconnected the Auxiliary battery.
On return from our trip i charged the Auxiliary Battery and connected to the wires hanging out of the car, car came alive with horn going, unlocked the car and opened the bonnet. Fitted all leads correctly and started the car "jumping" off the auxiliary battery the Traxide set up.
Car has just been for a service and seems to be running well, Cranking battery seems to have survived and is holding OK charge. Battery is possibly low on charge but will get a good run this week.
Hope this helps somebody looking to long store their vehicle.
