hi all,

curious to hear about people's long term experience with Allisport radiators/intercoolers.

Any issues such as cracking from driving corrugations?
Are they more susceptible to damage, clogging or corrosion etc. ?
Any other issues I haven't thought of?

And how do they compare to genuine/OEM ?

Not a big fan of allisport, Had their direct replacement inter cooler , could not tell much difference on a 300 TDI , then noticed oil seeping out where the fins join the bottom tank .
Pressure tested it & it leaked , contacted Allisport & was told it was normal & they would not replace it . went back to std.
Also had their expansion tank , which cracked on the seam .
All in all I wont bother with them again .

My Allisport intercooler is still good, has been installed on a tuned TD5 for +11yrs and 120k kms.

I installed their performance intercooler in my 2015 2.2 Defender in early 2016, along with the BAS 170hp ECU.

All worked well until mid-last year when the Defender went into 'limp' mode (with the BAS tool reporting an error indicating air pressure leak). Removed all the intercooler hoses and replaced them with silicone (as the normal culprits). However, no holes/splits were visible.

So then removed the intercooler and found a 50-60mm split in one of the side tanks.

I contacted Allisport directly, and they asked for proof of purchase and a picture of the split. I promptly sent this through, and they couriered a brand new replacement to me within a week.

Very happy with the support and service.

cheers,

Installed an Alisport double-core intercooler and radiator on my 300Tdi Defender.

The radiator split in the middle of a row after 6 weeks, and it took 4 months of pestering before they would replace it. They claimed they'd never seen that happen before, but fortunately my local radiator place made clear in writing that his professional diagnosis was a manufacturing defect so they didn't have much wiggle room.

Once I got the replacement in, it did the job, but for whatever reason it always accumulated bubbles in the top and set off my low coolant alarm. I assumed the worst and replaced the head (the old one did have some minor cracks, but pressure tested okay). No change. Swapped back to the old radiator again - fixed.

Ended up getting my OE radiator recored and selling the Alisport one on eBay at a substantial loss.

The intercooler is still in there, but doesn't seem to make any difference.
