Hi everyone,

My IIA 88" currently has some terrible aftermarket seats installed. I'm wanting to go back to standard style seats as pictured below. I believe I'll need to purchase seat frames too. Can anyone recommended a source for these within Australia? And are there different types for standard/deluxe seats or SWB/LWB?

I've found this image, which suggests I'll also need to source rails, is this correct for all models? As there's not much space in the 88s, I'm thinking about modifying the seat frames to mount directly to the seat boxes, which should allow me to sit slightly lower and maybe a touch further back as well.

Any input greatly appreciated.

Seats remained the same for series 2/2a/3 long and short, except:-

Adjustable driver seats became optional somewhere about 1965, were standard (I think) on station wagons from the start. Became standard on at least Australian built late Series 3 lwb. The driver's cushion on these is slightly smaller, but the standard cushion can be made to fit by putting wooden chocks on it. They were never factory fitted except to the driver's seat. Other seat positions have a simple top hat rail with the bracket for the back welded to it, and bolted to the seat box.

High back seats became optional on later Series 3, and again, became standard on very late Australian built lwb Series 3.

Note that the middle cushion and back are narrower than the left and right.

Best bet for the seat fittings is probably second hand - there must be hundreds of them lying round. Cushions and backs can be bought new.

4WD Industries and a few other places seem to have the same two types of bases/backs available as a set, listed as standard and deluxe. Are either of these considered high back? It's not something I'd considered. Mine currently doesn't have a middle seat either, so I'd need a frame for that too.

Any suggestions on where to find used frames?

Whereabouts are you? I probably have most of the parts you need, but I am about to leave for Cooma and cannot look. And they will be attached to other bits, and I doubt I am up to pulling them apart.

Send me a PM after Easter. There may be others closer to you.

Thanks for that. I scrolled down and could only find "seat runners." Not sure if that's what I need, as everything else I've found online are a full frame?
