Anyone replaced the covering material of their centre console before?

My fathers MY12 D4 TDV6 has cracked the vinyl covering of the centre console lid. Wreckers are asking a couple hundred for a replacement which is likely to be almost as old and also ready to fail.

I noticed vendors on eBay (e.g. Leather Armrest Console Lid Cover Fits Land Rover Discovery LR3 LR4 06-16 Black | eBay (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/222569665307?hash=item33d22f931b:g:AsYAAOSwi8VZXbm d&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8E0WRiJixYRE%2FQSyPdY%2B0FTHr DpBiZ4vUw6APumsbSpkm3ArxKRLkXb0%2BKmaxKkUvR1XDyd2O eLb8J5bHlcVBpvhboENuFxPmVgvKVIIk%2F4hKqaFfvl2aYHdK mzXweTswPNl54c6N7rnI9Eizb717j3ccc0i6Le6%2BDeeT0cvO F0CfrYRLR7ak2bV1hgzumBkK3YAIHVRYcZSH12T%2Ff4zkxbzd mFXu6R4LL3ucX7AAHNM8Qmn8XUGuWb1HE7Eds3pqM7E%2FIjoP Cw5hYiKXCJu6n%2FWBH4XJDkjsgzu0DAea1JR8p5EbdbeB5eZV d4GG6UeaQ%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR8aZs-boYQ) ) offering replacement leather coverings for it.
I assume it's just a matter of undoing the screws underneath the lid to seperate the halves and fitting the cover before screwing back together.

Anyone done this before and if so, how did it turn out?

This is opportune as my RRS lid (same as a D3) has just started to crack in the sun. I need a bone coloured cover and was considering getting one made with some nice stitching but interested in responses and alternatives.

Cheers

A bit of info in this thread: Centre console top (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l319-discovery-3-and-4-a/276178-centre-console-top.html)

Done mine using these eBay kits and spectacular result.

You need to practice several times the folding and do all trimming of excess material prior as once you have the adhesive on you get one shot only.

I made some pen marks on the back to help with alignment.

The corners are tricky where a fold occurs. Some trimming helps.

Use bulldog clips to clamp in place initially but the inside of the lid covers many sins and clamps it all from coming apart.

I contacted the ebay seller to see if they have my colour - no they don't, but were happy to make a one off if I provide a sample - unfortunately as my interior is two tone, dark olive seats and lower components and bone for dash and door trims and cubby lid, all the bone bits are foam injected parts so there is nothing to cut off for a sample.

You could also get "The cream, the bone, the white, the off-white, the ivory or the beige." as per Richie Benaud's jacket, according to "The 12th Man".
