A little article on hydrogen powered cars in Australia.

The Hyundai has been available in Australia for a couple of years and we have 22 in Canberra. There is a filling station just out of the CBD and it makes its own hydrogen from renewable electricity.

Toyota has a hydrogen filling station here in Melbourne. Fairly sure its not flat out yet

Toyota seems very slow. Not sure it that is smart or silly myself.

Honestly i feel and seeing as we have to go down this rabbit hole for climate sake Hydrogen will be a major player in the game [thumbsupbig],

JCB are all over it for their machinery which makes a lot of sense for off road machinery [bigwhistle]

Given the Likely hood of spare power stored as Hydrogen now or soon, I suspect farmers will be the first movers in Hydrogen tractors and similar.
Not suggesting Hydrogen electrolysis is the perfect solution for all of us!!!

It is clearly a way of storing excess power for later use as power for multiple sources.

Thank you for the JBC tip. Very interesting. About JCB | JCB.com (https://www.jcb.com/en-au/about)

One of the things I don't see discussed when talking about using Hydrogen as a combustion fuel is combustion byproducts.

So yeah, we use Hydrogen and burn it with the 21% oxygen in the air. What about the oxides of nitrogen that get created during the combustion process?

Environment first, humans second. They don’t produce any CO2 so all good. [emoji56]

Remember that if we don’t control emissions human health will suffer even more.

That's a interesting issue Brad. Germany derailed EU plans by insisting on burning bio fuels and other bits which are a bit less dirty and do emit particle pollution and C02 . Hydrogen or ammonia and possibly Ethylene can be used in generation of Electricity via electrolyser(s)
"Germany and E.U. Agree to Exception in Planned Ban on Combustion Engines
Berlin has been pushing to allow the sale of vehicles running on synthetic fuels past 2035. Its dispute with the E.U. threatened the bloc’s climate goals.

"
It was blackmail by German auto industry apparently. The last time they did that they chaos in the green taxonomy mixing C02 free Nuclear in with Methane [bighmmm][bighmmm][bighmmm][bighmmm]

Happily a very nifty company over your way has a way of making Methane into Hydrogen and graphite.

Off Topic but happy one. Rotto has a marathon!!!!!! Its on my bucket list next year as I am committed else where this year. I wonder how many laps around it will be? FOUR [biggrin] Event details for RunFun Travel Rottnest Running Festival | West Australian Marathon Club (https://www.wamc.org.au/event/runfun-travel-rottnest-running-festival)
How many Quokers could I see and I how could I resist taking my diving kit to get a feed of WA crayfish while running!!![bigrolf]

Doubt I will get a hydrogen electric beast in time to drive over next year . If I have time a weird EV idea is in my head!

Not meaning to bring politics into this post- Please excuse me if German info offends any rulz or anybody!

There has been an at times nasty fight going on in the back offices of the EU for a decade. On one side you had France and Italy pushing for rules that would penalise vehicles with larger engines. Wanting a move away from diesel with harsh standards being introduced sooner as a first step then larger petrol engines with smaller petrol engines being given a longer life and more limited standards to meet. The other side was Germany pushing for rules that had a longer transition period for larger engines vehicles petrol or diesel. Now I wonder why that would have been?
