Hi all,

The HVAC fan stopped last week on my Td6. I just replaced the final stage resistor (boy, that is fun) and still no HVAC fan. Fuses are all good. Any suggestions? I'm really scratching my head as to what it could be.

Thanks,

Charles

I thought that if the FSR failed, the fan would run at full speed.

Thanks Ron - That is certainly my experience on other vehicles. However, when I googled, it seemed the FSR was something that had to be ruled out. Had I known what a PITA it is to change, I might not have been so hasty.

Starting to look like the fan motor may have failed which is very surprising as no sign of issues leading up to failure.

Can you get to the motor and give it a spin,in case there is something caught in it?

Next would be to check power at the motor.

Hi Paul,
Fan spins fine.
There is no power getting to the motor as far as I can tell.
Also, only just thought to check rear heater fan and that also has no power.
All fuses are good and have power and all lights on the HVAC console light up

Thanks,

Charles

I have replaced L322 interior fans due to failures.

There is the textbook way (pretty much complete dash out) or the quick way which involves cutting a hole in the top of the dash structure after removing the dash pad for access.

Looks like a fan replacement is in my future. After checking through everything again with no change, I gave the top of the dash above the fan a few good whacks with the flat of my hand and the fan came back to life.....

I was looking at a youtube video of a bloke that had to do something in regards to the hvac motor and he got into it without removing all the dash.
Didnt watch all of it but think he fixed what ever problem he had with it.
Found it ........

That looks to be an update dash, might be different to TD6.

I've done the blower fan in mine (2007 TDv8) without pulling the dash, its a job but not difficult. However, when mine stopped the rear AC was still blowing fine. The TD6 dash is different to TDv8, I'm not sure if cutting is required for the 6 but mine needed some minor trimming.

While you're there it's a good opportunity to remove the factory entertainment and fit a nice 10inch screen.
