Having cleaned out the under floor area on my Sport, I'm thinking of 1 or 2 slim line lithiums in this space.
Anyone done it?

I haven't but I really want to get rid of that foam waste of space there now - is it noisy?

No idea on noise, have not driven it. I suspect a few bits and pieces may need to be wrapped in canvas or something, although there is padding/sound insulation in the bottom which I left.
I've kept the widow maker jack, but the great thing is that my hydraulic unit fits perfectly into the indent where the Land Rover tow bar went - I'll be fitting my hitch later so will not be needing it.
Its nowhere near as much space as I had in my Disco, but for stuff rarely used, it should be useful.
I will need to make a support at the front and rear for the cover to sit on, as it relies on the foam padding for support.
This is a work in progress jobbie while I cant drive after my shoulder operation.
The good thing is that I got all the foam out with one arm operational, so I felt like I could finally do something therapeutic!!!!

Hi Alan,
The reason he’s asking - without that foam in there you’ll find you can experience “booming” from the underside of the vehicle. Fill it up with plenty of gear and likely not a worry.

Please see here: Fridge Slide Install and expanded storage capacity (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l320-range-rover-sport/290883-fridge-slide-install-expanded-storage-capacity.html) I can store so much more without the foam and no noise issues, there is still sound proofing hd foam lining the body.

No, it was little unclear if there was sound deadening attached below the foam - which has been confirmed that there is.
Booming?, I think that refers to supersonic travel - doesn't seem relevant.

It’s also a term that was used for panels amplifying noise.
Even with the deadening underneath, the foam makes a big difference if the space is devoid of items.

I know this thread is old but was looking for info on this recently. Just food for thought, but to me it looks like the foam makes up an important part of the load-bearing capability of the load space hatch. With all the foam removed, any weight in the load space is born by the perimeter of the hatch alone. The hatch is not that strong to withstand a point load without cracking. For this reason Ive opted to not remove the foam entirely, leaving most of the 'ribs' in-tacked and just removed some foam from the odd-shaped spaces to make them more useful. Irrelevant of course, if you are removing the load space hatch permanently and adding bars for reinforcement. For my setup I wanted to leave the 'standard' load space intact when I removed my camping setup.

Yeah the boot lid/floor that sits on the foam is only lightweight board and wouldnt hold any weight itself without support underneath from teh foam or whatever replaces it

I did this a while ago, works well with a thin Lithium under the floor. Noise levels haven't changed at all. Yes, i have made it a bit neater since this photo was taken!!!
