How to remove thermostat: Evakool

Hi

I have an old Evakool that fits perfectly with in my camper trailer. It works fine but I'm replacing the analogue controller with a digital one so that I can set it for a specific internal temp and won't have to adjust it so much.

The problem I've come across is that I'm not sure how the original thermostat works. It's got a malleable metal pipe from it that goes into the fridge and cooling element. I'm thinking that maybe it has gas in it? I'm trying to work out whether I can remove it by disassembly, or by cutting it. If not, I actually think I could just leave it where it is. The digital controller bypasses it anyway.

I'm not a member of any refrigeration forums and this is the best place I could think of to ask!

Pretty sure they dont have a gas but possibly some kind of liquid for thermal transfer, are you fitting something like an STC1000 temp controller ?

The tube coming from the t/stat holds a very small quantity of pressurised gas,just cut it carefully,if needed.It can't be used again,once the gas is gone.

It probably is attatched to the evaporator with a clip,or goes into a small pocket.

I am not familiar with an Everkool.

Thanks for the advice. Thinking about it a bit more, I reckon the best thing to do is probably just leave it mounted. It's electrically disconnected so won't be doing anything. I was sort of thinking I'd run the STC1000's temp probe through the channel created by removing the old thermostat, but there are other options for that.
