Hello All,
Can anyone with a Range Rover 3.9 litre V8 let me know if the engine is level when mounted in the chassis? Or is the engine high one end? For example, if you put a spirit level down the length of a rocker cover is it level? Or is the spirit level high towards the front of the motor and low towards the gearbox? Or high at the gearbox end of the motor and low towards the front of the motor?
I just made an engine dolly for a 3.9 litre Range Rover V8 and since I bought the bare motor after it was removed from the donor I do not know how level the engine was mounted in the chassis.
I will post some photographs of the dolly I made and some dimensions.
In the near future I will convert the dolly to an engine test stand. At the moment I can easily push the engine around on four castor wheels. The dolly also provides a stable environment where force can be applied while dismantling the motor without worries of things tipping over when using an engine stand. I used 200 mm x 50mm 3m Treated H4 Pine Sleeper for the dolly's main frame. Plus the height of the castors so everything is close to the ground and sturdy.
Kind regards
Lionel
