My truck has become hard starting and white smoke on start up that disappears when engine is warm, even when restarting. New glow plugs and intake manifold gaskets ordered as relatively inexpensive service.
Is it pretty straight forward to swap the plugs out, anything to look out for? Will post pics once parts arise.

yes, just be gentle when undoing glow plugs, spray some Penetrene on them and hopefully it soaks in a bit. (if you cant get the Australian made Penetrene, then use a lessor product)
do it after a run so its nice and warm, spray them as the first thing you do.
a gentle little tap tap on the end of the socket, undo or rather feel if they start to move, tighten a bit, undo a bit, keep doing that, touchy touchy gently gently.
glow plugs can readily snap off for the un-aware, you then turn a relatively simple job into a mightmare.
the 2.4 also the glow plug wire at the front has a nut that wont undo readily but the plastic around it breaks, it also is prone to melting, if either happens replace the bolt/nut/plastic assembly with a male/female electrical connector that is suited for the gauge / amperage of the glow plug wire (bigger yellow or translucent yellow connectors)

Good advice thank you, wouldn't have thought of running it first or spraying... only got WD40 or CRC556 for spraying. Hopefully I don't break the connectors as that sounds a pain too.
