About 2 weeks ago I bought a Varta H3 battery. The D3 isn’t my daily drive so I have it connected to my Cetek charger when not using it.

I decided to drive the D3 to work this week.

Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th. No issues

Wednesday morning 16th would turn over but wouldn’t start. There was considerable voltage drop as the lights dimmed and the entertainment system rebooted. Put it on charge for 24 hrs.

This morning 17th would barely turn over. Back on charge. This afternoon, wouldn’t turn over at all.

The charger completed the charging cycles without any faults.

Jump started fine.

Checked for parasitic battery drain. 0.01-0.02 mA. So not that.

No loose cables shorting to earth.

I have disconnected the battery and am charging it again to see if is vehicle related.

Any other ideas?

Definitely sounds dead - maybe take it to one of the various parts sellers that test batteries for free? Better still, take it to the one that sold you the battery if you can?

Bought a Varta for our D3 in January. Great battery no probs. Sounds like yours is dead. Go see the people who sold it to you.

Took it back. Tested it and the CCAs were way down.
Have a loan battery while it is sent back for a warranty claim

Varta replaced the battery under warranty. The battery store didn’t know why it failed.
Below is the history of the battery. The yellow line is where I installed it. The red lines are where it started have cranking problems and then failed.
