L320m 2.7L V6 Excessive smoke on start up

Hi all,

I haven't been here for a while, I currently have a L320 with the 2.7L diesel at 280,000kms. Occasionally when I start there is excessive smoke from both pipes, excessive fuel by the looks of it as it does not use coolant. Just wondering what the cause could be, I remember reading of a solenoid valve that opens when the engine is shut down to drain any pressure back out of the system, could this be getting stuck closed causing the injectors to dribble slightly when shut down, worse the longer it has been sitting.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Dribbling injectors will inevitably cause fuel dilution also. What colour is the smoke?

I think Brad means oil dilution. and don't worry about both pipes smoking as IIRC they are commoned up, I'm also guessing leaking injectors.
