Raptor CV joints

Thinking of upgrading to these joints as rated slightly second behind ashcroft.
Anyone broken one?

Yes , I found that one a couple of days ago and it got me wondering if anyone else has had the same experience.
That guy works his vehicle very hard as he has also broken two front crown wheel and pinions, transfer box centre diff and a heap of rear shafts.
Not much else around about them.
Maybe no one uses them or perhaps they are still going strong.
I broke a stage 3 CV in the Simpson a month ago and was wondering what to replace it with. I was going to use the two from a spare Perentie 6x6 front axle I have. Look brand new but was told they are no stronger than stage 3 ones.

^^ Re the 6x6 CVs, I thought the ones made in the USA for the Army BYG4564 were very strong.

That article about the Raptor CV's is interesting. The hardness is about producing wear life of the product, not strength. Before 3430, 300M and Hytuff CV's or parts, they used to just reheatreat the County CVs to remove some of the hardness and then go nuts on them. This is how they stopped them shattering. Of course they wont be a 300,000km proposition anymore like a factory hardness product.

As far as I was aware, I thought the Stage 1 CV's were about as strong as LandRover made the design and they got worse from there. The Stage 1 is a funny CV in that it isn't compatible with others for fitment as far as I know, however you can buy new drive flanges that will allow you to run the 110 (AEU2522) CV which use to be the go to CV for the competition boys. Just check your CV spline counts match. The AEU2522 CV should be a far easier CV to find for your Stage 1.

HD AEU2522 CV's can be bought from Ashcroft as discussed or just standard.

Yes its all very confusing. Is the AEU 2522 the same as in the 6x6 Perentie . The BYG 4564 that P38 mentioned ?
Its about 10mm shorter than the stage one but I got over that by using the stub axles from the 6x6 as well. Just fitted them and it looks as if it will all go together OK.

I haven't seen Phoenix on here for years but he made a post on REMLR that said the AEU2522 was superceded by the BYG4564. I cant confirm any of that though.

KLR appear to have the GKN brand AEU2522 but they ain’t cheap.

We also have been selling Raptor CVs (as well as Ashcroft CVs) for around 5-6years now at Kingpin Fab

We sell a fair few Raptors as a budget freintly alternative to the Ashcrofts...however, if somone is into hitting intermediate to advanced 4x4 tracks, or extreme remote touring - we ALWAYS steer those folks to the Ashcroft.
That being said, the use cases we do spec Raptor CVS for...we have not had one warrantly claim in the whole time we have been supplying them...
