View Full Version : Where are Range Rovers made?

I know that sounds like a stupid question but a bloke on the Australian 4WD Monthly forum claims the new RR is made in South Africa.

There is one very big difference between the ones in England and the ones here. The English ones are made in England and the ones we get here a made in South Africa to save costs.
That is one of the main reasons they have so many faults straight from the show room that need ironing out. "

My understanding is that we received some Defenders from South Africa but I don't know of RSA-manufactured Rangies.

Any comments?

Ron

You can tell if it's made in England by simply looking inside the passenger foot-well, Ones made in England have a curry hook:)

Seriously though are all dirivitives of the Range Rover and sport made in England? I thought it was just the ones for the English and European markets.

Have you ever been to Brimingham that is little india anyway:D :D

all rangie, disco, sports, are made in england. I used to live near Southampton and that is where they leave the UK for the rest of the world. and i used to see loads and loads of lorry loads go past where i used to live a day. Also there is a massive yard at the docks full of thousand of them plus a multi story car park bulit by land rover for them too .I have a mate who works for land rover at the docks. Who is in charge of exporting them world wide. He offered to put the my 90 in with the next lot going out to Aus

Definately Solihull, use google earth and have a look.
If they changed the manufacture from my ancesteral home of Solihull I would be beside myself. It would be like my namesake St. Aelphage (Elphick) being stoned all over again. Don't you know the Church of St Aelphage is where you go to pray to th e mighty green oval.

Mate the amount of time I spend in Sydney the one at Beverly Hills could be the option. But a weekend of offroading in the watagans, Balti's at night or CAL415 suggested a night trip up stockton. The curry houses are about a 15min drive from there. My disco is equiped with a curry hook!:)

Seriously whenever you want. I just need enough notice to get out of work. About a week or two

Some years ago there was an EXCELLENT Balti place near Terrigal Beach on the Central Coast - called (funnily enough) The Brum Balti

My wife and I lament the day it closed down.

Anyone else remember that place ?

Very small with picnic table style seating - always packed.

G'day Ali,

There is never enough GOOD curry houses!!!!

My old curry house in Sheffield, while I was at Uni, was the BEST - open all night, just knock on the door and the bouncer let you in and all the taxis came by the shop on the way home!!!

Saying that it was shut down by health inspectors 3 times in 4 years!!!
