View Full Version : While I've got the dash out...

Hi Folks,
I recently bought my first L322 (2011 4.4 lt TDV8) and it seems the AC blower motor is gone. While the replacement motor itself isn't too pricey, the labour cost is, so whilst the dash is out, what other bits should be replaced in order to get the best bang for buck out of the labour charge? Heater core, hoses, foam seals, etc?
Cheers.

Perhaps replace the final stage resistor pack even though it can be done from the driver's footwell.

Anybody got any recommendations for a blower supplier? I hear it's the same unit as an X5 of the same period.

I need to access the blower motor in mine. Blower Fan Noise (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l322-range-rover/296675-blower-fan-noise.html)
I think yours has the later dash so it might be easier - with a bit of cutting.

Perhaps replace the final stage resistor pack even though it can be done from the driver's footwell.
Is there any advantage in replacing it if the fan is working OK? The question also arises, if the resistor has failed will the blower also not work? Maybe Peter's blower is OK. I ask because of this video:

The resistors fail with usage from heat so if convenient I would think it worthwhile replacing it.

I’ve always thought the final stage resistor (FSR) method of controlling fan speed is crude, especially compared to the P38A’s pulse width modulation (PWM) method.
Pulling the FSR might be a way for me to look for what’s causing the noise with my blower fan.

I agree, it's design is from before electronics and still the same up to the end of the L322s.
