The WA gov has secured a round of the RedBull plane racing circuit.Looks pretty spectacular,I bet they make a big splash when they fall out of the sky.I think I will go and watch, more exciting than watching paint dry.

We used to ahve an event here in Tassie called Skyrace. I thought the same thing (boring) until the first time I went. I was hooked after that. Just seeing a 2200 BHP 18Cyl radial being used in anger about 6 meters away was friggin brilliant. If Red Bull racing is anything like skyrace and u like motorsport you'll love it. :D

Easy you've got Kings park and the Swan river to use as spectator points and less stuff to fly into in the worst case scenerio

Cause no one else is stupid enough to let high powered, fast, low flying planes near a populated area. Imagine if one lost power and hit the Belltower!! Now that would be cool. Would love to be able to get down for it, expect some pics guy's.

I'll be there Craig with my Dad has he is a mad follower, like motor sports though I won't take the kids just in case the sea breeze comes in and messes around with them, At kings park it would be strange to look down on a racing plane instead of up:confused:

I remember reading about twenty years ago someone turned up at one of these aeroplane races in California with a DC-7 - four 3250hp turbo compound 18 cylinder engines. The sponsor who supplied free spark plugs to all competitors looked rather sick supplying 144 plugs. Flying empty except for fuel and ignoring handling restrictions it actually outperformed a lot of the single engined planes, but the organisers banned it and similar planes from future races.
