Replacement oil cooler installed 20K ago has created a nightmare.

I have been chasing oil leaks for a couple of weeks believing I was facing a body off, Justin Cooper advised to revisit the possibility of oil in the V, his advise to probe the area revealed engine oil present.

Went through due process to remove the new cooler and found a torx assemble screw missing and another only finger tight. Cleaning the V found the missing screw.

The unit was a brand new off the shelf item, obviously not assembled correctly. Unit was branded Nissen.

Hindsight is a wonderful resource, I have had my trust broken in the belief new items should not require their quality checking.

That’s a shame. They’re considered original quality and I have one and hasn’t been an issue.

Well posting this elsewhere has revealed that the problem is not uncommon. Even with a genuine purchase it is advisable to apply Loctite to the assembly screws prior to installation.

Eeek. Oh well, I’m a lucky one. 100,000km later no issue

Hey Guys. I have a TDV6 3.0 and I can’t for the life of me get the cooler out!! I think the issue is I cannot seem to remover the passenger side glow plug lead to give me the room to lift and rotate it out. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I recall having to remove glow plug/s and had to cut one of the intake manifold intake pipes a little to get mine out.
