John Cadogen has just posted a video about the PHEV Outlander.

I do like the way it has lots of torque at low speed.

Lack of a spare wheel could be a problem.

I'll have to take your word for it, Ron. I can't stand the unprofessional presenter.

Better way to carry a spare tyre:

Swing Away | Tyre Trek - Towbar Mounted Spare Tyre Carriers (https://www.tyretrek.com.au/swing-away#&gid=1636053816&pid=2)

The Outlander has a 1600kg tow limit with 160kg tow ball weight - if it was 2000kg/200kg you could use the carrier that also takes 2 x 20 litre jerry cans.

In this admittedly unusual case he is actually quite professional. Quite the surprise. Possibly the only vid of his that can be directly linked to this forum.

I think the thing to remember here is this is Mitsubishi's "experiment", which appears to have succeeded.

Packaging is a big issue, so at this point this is no D4 competitor as a tourer. Possibly too much of a "soft roader" to attract the attention of the accessory mobs, but I guess we'll wait and see. However, imagine if they take this approach to a Patrol. There's already a healthy accessory market out there for the Y62.

Given the conditions he experienced in the Simmo, I wonder how much petrol that bloke used. I also wonder why there's no DHEV out there somewhere.

Three cars in this vid. PHEV Outlander is the third.

Good to see a heavy duty cargo barrier was fitted,so that is a start.

One of my brothers has the Sport, his has bash plates, suspension upgrade and lift,so they are available for the earlier model, may carry over to the newer model.

The main reason he had the accessories fitted, was he goes to Fraser island a lot and it was a bit low, which was a problem in soft sand.
