Our beautiful condition 2010 D4, bought just a few weeks ago as our dream car was stolen on Friday, just before 7am from the Surf Life Saving Club at Tugun beach.
If any one sees it, could you please post here or PM me?
The number plate is 354 RMO.
It is black, tan leather interior, completely factory stock vehicle, no bulbar, nudge bar, winch, roof rack or tyre rack. No running boards/sliders or bash plates either - super straight stock.
It seems as though it was stolen in order to travel south on the M1. As it was stolen just before 7am on a Friday morning, I am thinking the thieves had a specific plan. rather than being out for fun. I am guessing they could perhaps be minor drug vendors heading back home after making their money at Schoolies,
It contained my iPhone, wallet and .. wedding ring. No jibes or "you shoulda's" please, I am pretty well devastated - feel like I've let myself and my family down and have to go through all the hassle for license, credit card, medicare card etc.
I know it's all likely gone for good, but I have to go through the motions and create my luck in maybe it being abandoned and getting to it before it is vandalised, joy ridden, set on fire etc.
All reported to cops of course. Key fob was in foil cover in a lock safe. Car was stolen about 10 minutes after I left the it. Cops reckon serious thieves can easily open a lock safe and there is little I could have done - if it was the kind of car they needed, they would take it.
I am now thinking that I could have removed the key blade and kept it with me in the surf (with the keyless fob kept in the key lock shackled to the car) - maybe would that have worked?
I have left the SIM going in iPhone in attempt to trace it, but it has been off since last detected about 1km from the steal site. Using Find My, I could see that at 7:04am, and about a km from where it was stolen, the iPhone was either switched off and kept in the car, or tossed out of the car. The Find May last scene shows it was near a deep drainage ditch (full of bullrushes) on Stewart Rd, heading for the M1. It had only ¼ tank of fuel and the route they seem to have been on suggest they may have even got fuel from the servo to increase their potential range. I asked the Shell servo manager who said they could only show cctv at police direct request - they said they couldn't even look at cctv themselves without cop's permission. Is that right?
I know it will likely be found burnt out or unsalvageable, but it's worth trying to find it, damaged or not, as it was a great mechanically and we could continue using it, even if it was damaged.
help would be great.
Should I be posting this somewhere else in Aulro (rather than here)?
