Series 2A Radiator Cowl 551714. Hot or cold?

Hi Friends,
Does anybody know what the function of the radiator cowl is on a Series 2A in Australia? Why is it favouring the RHS of the engine. Is it to keep the engine cool on hot days or warm the distributor on cold days? My Series 2A does not have one of these and I am planning on making one to fit. Does anyone have any comments or information on these cowls? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

As I commented back then - as far as I know, it is to avoid overheating the battery.

The main cowl is to improve fan performance, and will be particularly necessary when operated at low speed or stationary in hot weather, especially if heavily loaded, for example towing on sand in the tropics or deserts, or for PTO operations.

as stated improves fan performance, ducted mainly to put air flow down the exhaust side to help vent heat away from that side.
