Immobilser.
Read the threads but still can't start the car.
I have the car battery out of the car and always on trickle charge it's running at 13.5v

When I put the battery in the car alarms straight away and car will not start. Not even turnover. Check fob and battery has been replaced just in case.
Key in ignition and immobiliser light flashing on the dash.

Took the car to Landrover dealer to asses and hopefully reset with OBD.
It did not work.

Diagnosis from Landrover:

Anti-theft module has failed, and looks like we need to replace it with an updated version which involved some modifications to the wiring harness.

Timeline for delivery 8weeks.

Any ideas on how to bypass the immobilser system and not use it?

Appreciate any advice.

Hi,
The manual covers this on page 99 to 100. It will reset the system.
Cheers

is it a 2.2 or a 2.4?

*2.4 the signal wire from the immobiliser to the ecu and back goes via the IP cluster and is prone to failure on the plug and internally on the IP cluster, the wire can be snipped and joined by-passing the cluster, this is the most common.
*the 2.2 has the above by-pass from factory.
*the immobiliser itself can also fail in parts internally.
*the harness itself can also have faults/breakage, the last one I repaired I had the dash completely out.
*the harness on the Defender TDCi (2007 - 2016, puma) are a hodge bodge of the older previous model and can suffer no end of poor connections, chaffing, broken wires.
*the signal from the ecu to immobiliser is a pulse width modulated signal and can be prone to outside interference be that a poor connection on the ecu itself, a chaffed wire with another wire, etc.
*the ecu can be programmed to ignore the immobiliser.

if 2.4, Bell Auto in UK can reprogram the ECU to be stand alone. I believe its a send the ECU to them job. Bit extreme but for someone that travels remote, exposing the vehicle to theft might be the lesser of 2 evils compared to a dead car in the middle of no-where.
