Hi guys I have been watching Leonie repairing her D2 after her timing gear went in to pieces, cleaning the sump and oil pick etc up from all the debris from the timing gear. And waiting for parts she need. It has taken nearly 3 months to repair it with help from her dad.
Leonie now has her independence back as this is the only car she can drive. Watch the video today of her turning over her beloved D2 after 3 months bought tears to my eyes as I know how much she needs this car to get around. And I am sure Mario would be so proud of her as they use to talk a lot together. Some people might not know her favourite color is purple, so now the rocker cover is a lovely purple, which I am sure she painted her self, being a spray painter, her personal stamp in the D2. She's a better man than....oh, hang on, that doesn't sound right. She's a better woman than I......gosh, that's worse.
Just good on you, Leonie, we're all proud of your tenacity and will do, attitude.

You should see some of the photo's of her sitting on the front with he legs hang inside the engine bay. And it isn't an easy job to replace the timing gear and everything you have to pull off to get to it. I think that's why Mario and Leonie got along as they both have that will do attitude. Heather

How about seeing some get posted. I've pointed a few people at her posts as inspiration for determination and one of the lads (lost a leg to cancer) now has an apprenticeship as a mechanic. It's the "can do" rather than "I can't" that is the ticket.

And yes, given all the available painted surfaces are Purple, I figured that was a bit of a fav :)

Legs in the engine bay was how I used to service my older cars. Back then you could move from left to right via the front and not take your legs out of the bay. These days you'd need a shoe horn and vaselline to get a big toe in!

I would love to but they are on her facebook page as Mario was a friend of Leonie. And I wouldn't have the right to put them up on any other page. She might see this thread and she might put up some photos her self. Heather

Awww 🥹🥹🥹[emoji3531] Thankyou Heather. That is beautiful and has made my day [emoji3059]
You are also welcome to share what ever photos you like from my Facebook. I don't mind at all :)
Im exhausted and its going to be a few days in bed for me resting after such a big couple of months.
Haha yes purple is my favourite colour Bradc [emoji28] my wheelchairs are both purple too.

The old girl wouldn't start today as need to put it on charge as battery isn't happy after sitting. Waiting on dad and we will move it to shed and he will connect the charger [emoji120]

Hi Leonie I don't know how to put up photos as Mario was the tech guy here, cars and computer. Just so happy to see you have your wheels back and there is no stopping you now. Heather

Job well done, Leonie.

Love the purple, but maybe not on my 300TDi.

For those who haven't been following, there are a few photos here.

Why Mario face book is still running is that he has Fishing Westernport facebook that he set up because he love fishing and he love to read about his member catch as he couldn't go fishing any more,I have kept it going in is memory our son that lives in Japan ring us through facebook,as it is free with facebook. This was the way our son could talk to his dad. Heather (PS I dont have facebook for personal reason)

It's hurtling my back just looking at the contortions. Knowing my luck, even if I could get my legs in the engine bay, my bum on the radiator support panel and lean into the motor, I'd knock the bonnet prop out then get eaten by the car.
Respect, Leonie.

Haha I guess not having feeling helped but I do have a lot of bruises and have to be careful with pressure sores and wounds haha.
I actually videod this whole process which I'll eventually post on YouTube, as well, wasn't much info when I was trying to find it and also because wheelchair life and still got it done [emoji16][emoji16] want others to know disability doesn't mean their life is over [emoji3590]

Thankyou, I love this hat. My mate (cobber on this forum) got it for me when he was in Germany at a car show where the new defender was revealed. So it's a special hat and in need of a wash now from working om cars. I wear it for archery too

Just absolutely the most inspirational storyline I've read through all this holiday / new year season. Gives one quite a lot to consider as to where the 'can do' bar should be set. Thank you for sharing and happy days on the road to you Leonie!

Thankyou [emoji3059] its one thing I've learned through disability life is that where there is a will, there is a way [emoji16] might be some trial and error and a bit slower but one never knows just what they can do until they try
