The Discovery 4 is about Cd 4, a Defender is about Cd 6, so without putting into a CFD simulator I'm guessing about Cd of 10! :lol2:

I wonder how much weight is on there as the max is 100KG?

...and that could be generous: Discovery 4 Roof Loading (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l319-discovery-3-and-4-a/145885-discovery-4-roof-loading.html)

Please guess the Drag Coefficient:

My guess is probably a bit more than a small chook pen but a bit less than a small garden shed.

I should point out the difference between drag coefficient and total drag.

Total drag is the on an object moving through air due to the air flowing past it, and is proportional to the cross section or frontal area of the object and to the drag coefficient, and to the square of the airspeed.

The drag coefficient is the ratio of the drag actually measured for the object relative to a flat plate with the same frontal area at right angles to the airflow.

The examples given above mainly are examples of drag increasing due to increased frontal area rather than changes in the drag coefficient.

Regardless, coefficient, drag, whatever, it would be multiple times better than the Defender and slide on I saw, on the Cunningham this afternoon. It was square and flat on all planes, I could have comfortably stood up in it.
Bet he kept a sharp eye out for low bridges and excessive camber. :eek2:

As the roof loaded one looks pretty ****ing unsafe to me & I reckon when that goes arse over tit & is dragging along the bitumen the DC will be pretty high & it will quite dangeroos for those riding with it.

To you maybe Slunnie, but to me the load looks like something wind catching & dense so
who really knows what it is?

Two surfboards and a whole heap of other gear.

They must have a ladder tucked away somewhere to help get it off and on i presume.

It just seems like they could make better use of those roofracks.

Reminds me a bit of a sight seen in rural France fifty years ago - a Citroen DS wagon, with what looked like an entire bedroom suite on the roof - doublebed, wardrobe and dressing table!

Travelling down the M1 in traffic at 110 kmh....what could possibly go wrong?

That roof box and a couple of boards would likely have no more influence on the vehicles handling dynamics than a Roof Top Tent.

I've seen a few 4wds have to take evasive action with a RTT on and.... well, lets say... They were lucky to remain rubber side down.

Or a crane.

Ah, but who knows what the unseen "other gear" consists of? A few bags of concrete mix?

Some Railway line waste cut Ends?
You can't say it wouldn't be possible because you cannot see past the black things & I can't see Surfboards that are recognizable to me.

We have all seen some stupid things unsafely carried on a Car why is this guy any different, is he/she a favourite rellie of someone here?

Really, why should we care anyway if it is in Cloud Cuckoo land?

Deffo CCL

.Cloud cuckoo land is a state of absurdly, over-optimistic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optimism) fantasy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantasy) or an unrealistically idealistic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ideal_(ethics)) state of mind where everything appears to be perfect. Someone who is said to "live in cloud cuckoo land" is a person who thinks that things that are completely impossible might happen, rather than understanding how things really are.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_cuckoo_land#cite_note-1) It also hints that the person referred to is naive (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naivety), unaware of realities or deranged in holding such an optimistic belief.

I rest my case M'lud.

Maybe a little too cryptic. Easy peasy. Rosa Parks is the Italian pronunciation for Rose Park a well to do pleasant Suburb east of the city. Well, it is as good as any explanation I have seen so far. [bigrolf]

Not quite, Greenacres is miles away to the north & from memory not a very **** hot suburb from my memory of it. We had friends there, now they have upgraded to Ferryden Park/Woodville North..
