Good morning all,
I am in the process of restoring an early 2A Forward Control.
Serial number is 28700075a - so very early in the production run and hence 1963.
It is in remarkably original condition apart from having a 186 holden engine. The rest of the driveline is within 25 of the main serial number.
The holden motor runs well, but I would prefer to put a landrover engine into it. The original engine would have been 4 cylinder but I don't have any spares.
I have a couple of spare 6 cylinder engines and would like to use 1 of these.
Which raises a few issues.
The holden conversion is based on what would have been the original 4 cylinder bell housing with bolt holes at 12 o'clock while a six cylinder engine has bolt holes at 11 and 1 o'clock.
It follows I would need a 6 cylinder bell housing and would have to fabricate some engine mounting brackets.
It appears the 6 cylinder engine was an option - but not in Australian delivered vehicles.
Any advice or information on putting a 6 cylinder engine into the vehicle would be welcome.
And if anyone has a spare 6 cylinder bell housing I would be interested.
Thanks,
Alan.
