Hi all.
Bought an awning for the D1 and are about to fit it.
Bought Eeziawn gutter brackets as i didnt want roof racks. The brackets basically clamp around the gutter with a support running down the underside of the gutter onto the vehicle body.
They didn't fit because the body protrudes out behind above the rear windows, that don't allow the brackets to fit under the gutter rail?
So, I'm now looking for racks. [bigsad]
Any thoughts?
Hate those ones that sit up Iike a double decker bus though
Not looking at spending a million either.
Sound familiar?

The stepped racks (TJM usually) pop up s/hand from time to time. I made a stepped rack for my old D1, then 3-4 come up for sale.
Personally think the full length flat racks, although cheap, look kinda silly on a D1/2.
Could just use 2 different height roof bars and make it work I guess…..would be kinda useless to put anything else on tho.

if you're not after the height of a rack...
I used a set of the generic rack clamps lent attached them to the gutter and then drilled nutserts into the roof, then welded a stand off onto the rack clamps that held the awning.
when it was all done the awnings were inside the main body line and no higher than the middle of the roof.

Thanks Rick, I've seen 1 in 30 years, so I hope it's not another 30[bigrolf]
I'll go with that if I can find one

Find some cheap used rhino rack bars and the tall mounting legs.

I can, just pop on down:firedevil:
of course once the sealant is all setup the gutter mounts become permanent
