Hi guys,
I have black smoke bellowing out exhaust if I idle, blue smoke on start up until warms up,
I have had a service done apart from fuel filter change, this hasn't done anything really, the guy who does the service doesn't really know what wrong with it but just says the engine is knackered. I would think it would be better to get a second hand engine if this is the case, few things, does anyone know reputable place, is td4 for Freelander 1 the same as Freelander 2?
Where would I find numbers on the engine for my search online? Any help gratefully received
Thanks
Phil

I don’t know anything about this engine, but you could try looking on top of the block where the head sits.
Or rego papers.

I'm reminded of an acquaintance's TD5 engine that was declared to have a major problem by a non-LR workshop and that another engine should be found. The issue was caused by a leaking copper washer on an injector because the retaining bolt was no longer tight. Get the issue properly diagnosed.

Hi bigbradz, Cant help with your diagnosis. But the engine in yours is from BMW-its a N47, a smaller version of the M57 in the RR TD6.
If you need/want to get a replacement donk one place I suggest is Triumphroverspares.com.au--08 83846933.
There in Adelaide.

You could try and contact "woko", he is the go to man for Freelanders.
