Hi All,
Sad news that today whilst the truck was parked up at Lillydale Station VIC from 5:30am this morning, when I returned at 4:30pm, it was not to be seen.
I have reported the loss to the police but am not holding out much hope.
505k on the clock and a new timing belt just done and new door hinges all round at Christmas.
Was due to start a rebuild and new gearbox but maybe that will not happen now.
Its either been taken for a joy ride with only 40 to 50km left in the tank, or its gone for parts and never to be seen again:
Maxi Drive lockers back and front,
Maxi drive HD axles and flanges.
Ashcroft CV's
Dual Lithium battery setup.
New breaks & rotors.
Brown church roofrack
MTE4x4 rear folding ladder
And lots more bits over the last fifteen years added.
Scum bags

Here is the basic unassuming look of the truck but minus the Defender decals which I removed but left the Tdi decal. The tyres are black D1 rims with standard BFG AT 235/85's.
The drivers door has goung at the bottom that was bogged up and painted with a more slightly creamer colour.
Now I know it should have been alpine or savrine white after i did the hinges.

Hope you get it back. Have you asked for security camera footage from the carpark?

With our stupid privacy laws do that quietly as criminals' privacy is highly protected:bat::bat::bat::bat::bat:.
Eyes out for the Deefer!

REGO? How about if it was driven on EAST LINK. Check your tag account?? Police are almost the only ones able to see bloody CCTV footage. If you can get a date time and Video owner such as Eastlink or CCTV at the council with the dirtbags handed on a platter to the over worked and understaffed VICPOL there is a chance!

No pings on the tag since my last trip on the 23rd Jan.
When I went to the Lillydale station to ask about the footage, they mentioned only the Police could access it if they investigate.
I have not heard from the Police since I reported it stolen.
Not sure what to do from here other than drive around in the hope of spotting it.
Feeling flat today.

Push the cops to look at the footage, before it gets written over.

Got a call from the Warburton police today to advise the truck has been found.
It was left in a petrol station in Launching Place.
Apparently, no damage externally apart from one removed plate and the other tapped up, but the ignition was smashed up.
The police have also found stuff that was not mine and a couple of empty stubbies.
It's now with Lilydale Police to go over with the duster in an attempt to see if they can find the culprit.
I have not seen it yet, but I may be very lucky and just get away with a new ignition.
Feeling much better today.
Appreciate your support.

When you get it back and have cleaned off all the black crap, fit a secret kill switch, if thats possible with a Tdi.

Possible, but easy to bypass.
They didn't take it far. Probably didn't want to wait for the bus. Good result getting it back.

Oh, I dunno. They were smart enough to choose the Deefer.[bigrolf]
I agree though. Nearly 50 years ago my MGB had a kill switch. One of my FIATs had a hidden valve that locked the brakes on if you didn't release it. Roadworthy bloke frowned at that though. Come to think of it, he wasn't thrilled with the hydraulic handbrake either.

My bike has a lockable clamp that keeps one of the front discs applied. I don't like the constant load on the seals and hoses.

The brakes only locked if you applied them without unlocking the non return valve. So if Mr Nefarious drove off he didn't get far. The hydraulic handbrake was for doing handbrake turns[bigwhistle]

And they often don't have the time to muck about looking for something like a kill switch, they will just move on.
Unless they want that particular vehicle, which in most of those cases it won't be seen again.
