Hi All

I recently noticed I had a slight thud when off and on accelerator. Inspection showed tear and movement in centre bearing.

I took it off yesterday with view to just replacing the bearing as everything else felt fine. However when taken off the ujoint had notchiness when rotating back through the centreline and very small rotational play so I will be replacing.

This post is to
1. Provide update that it cures the problem when replaced
2. Ask what others have replaced with as genuine are $$$$. What is the OEM ? Is it GKN ? Has anyone replaced with any other reputable after market brands and what was experience ?

TIA

I have one sitting in a box that Advanced Factors sell but not yet used. Was not expensive.

Looks like they only sell aftermarket now at GBP225, LR parts have GKN for just over GBP400 - plus shipping on both.

Ok, replacement done and while it has tightened things up a bit, it hasn't resolved the slop / thud. It appears to be TC, I've started Discovery 4 Transfer Case Slop / Thud on Engagement (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l319-discovery-3-and-4-a/297660-discovery-4-transfer-case-slop-thud-engagement.html) to see if anyone has any help with that.
