Has anyone got experience with SCA SCARC4000 Wireless Reversing Camera with 4.3" Monitor | Supercheap Auto (https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca-sca-scarc4000-wireless-reversing-camera-with-4.3-monitor/583669.html#q=Wireless%2Breversing%2Bcamera%2B&lang=en_AU&start=2) ?
I don't have a great deal of confidence in the vendor, but I'm only after a camera to guide me onto a DO 35 coupling. The trailer is too heavy to manoeuvre more than an inch or so, manually.

I haven't looked at that particular unit.
What I have done quite frequently is used a cheap WIFI borescope poking out the tailgate and my iPad viewing it on the dash.

I have a thing that sits magnetically on the A-frame and pokes up so it can be seen in the rear vision mirror. Bought long before rear vision cameras.

I went to the local bricks and mortar today, to check them out. Between 6.00 am today and opening time, they'd increased in price 25%, not bad for an item that was on clearance sale as of six this morning.

If we're going pre-digital then, our coupling has a copper tube brazed to it with a matching tube/hole on the tow bar. My grandfather used to pop a long bicycle flag in each, then just back up until the flags were together.
I didn't find the flags when we cleaned his house out. Knowing Grandad they're probably in the van somewhere in a cupboard I still haven't found. Last time I went looking through it I found a container up inside one of the vent spaces for the fridge. A bit like a safe really. Inside there was a brown medicine bottle with a bit of masking tape on it that says "Brandy". God knows how long that's been there.

On the money there, JT.
Running a scale rule over the photo, I came up with sides of 140 and base of 160, which equates to an included angle of 69.7° at the apex. [biggrin][tonguewink]

I use it all the time, but I put paypal between me and Aliexpress. Never had an issue personally. I've also had several disputes where sellers did the wrong thing and all were refunded. One dragged on so long I actually made money on the exchange rate variation!

I use it often, only for small electronic stuff. Never had an issue and stuff arrives PDQ. Lots of "local" sellers on flea bay are selling exactly the same stuff.

I don't have a great deal of confidence in the vendor, but I'm only after a camera to guide me onto a DO 35 coupling. The trailer is too heavy to manoeuvre more than an inch or so, manually.

Normally with these types of cameras after you download the App, you then have to connect the wifi to the camera first, before you then open the App.
This establishes the wireless network between the phone/tablet and camera before you open the App.

Not yet, neither my tablet nor phone can recognise the QR code, as such. Searching the App Store offers multiple options from various vendors, most of which do not look trustworthy.

The Apps always look cheap and questionable. Pretty normal for this type of gear.
So no luck searching for the App “JoyTrip” in Google Play? The developer is “Joyhonest”.
It looks to be a fairly basic app on iOS and even has a simple user manual in English.
Also try “MH Cam” or “SWD Camera”.
You will only use the app when offline, and then close it fully when done.
If it is any comfort, all pass Apple’s requirements which is normally a good sign, but that is not to say the Android version is the same.

Hey you are on Android - that alone should be setting alarms off…….🤣
The upside of Android, is developers have more freedom and can offer better functionality. JoyTrip on Android has more customisable settings compared to the iOS version.
You will find mixed reviews being a free app developed with basic functionality, but Joyhonest has been around for sometime now (founded in 2006) and is an electronics hardware designer and manufacturer based in Shenzen that also supplies free apps for their products. If you open up the camera, you will probably find they supplied the PCB and internal hardware.
Their moto is “Honest living. Happy work”.

Thanks DB, I've got it working but its functionality as a reversing camera is limited. It has a delay of 2~3 seconds and is very jerky, not to practical trying to hook up a DO 35 coupling that requires considerably more precision than a 50 mm ball and cup.

That is no good. I suspect your problem may be two issues:
1. Low processing power/RAM with the tablet. To receive, process, and display video takes some decent CPU performance.
2. Poor wireless signal resulting in transmission losses.
You can’t beat a wired camera.

Interesting. Wonder if that's a factor of poor wifi. Does it improve if your tablet is closer? Do you have access to another device to connect to it? I ask because I was considering one as well.
