Hi all,
D3 V6
Sometimes alarm just goes off when the car is parked and locked.
I had a similar issue on my old D2 v8 and it turned out to be that battery was getting old and volts would drop and set it off.
I am guessing that could be the same here... battery is about 4 years old and it is still showing green light at the top.
I will take the car to battery place today to check the health of it.
When running it was showing 13.7, I still need to measure it cold when ti sits for an hour.
Any suggestions? did anyone have the same issue?
Thankyou

The bonnet switch is notorious for this. The drivers side latch has a switch in it which is prone to failure. It can be disconnected and jumped out as a test.

x3 - can even be as simple as making sure the left and right side latch on the bonnet has fully locked as movement of the bonnet due to wind can also activate the alarm.
May need adjustment if not closing securely.

Hi all, I just cleaned the switch lets see what happens. I am sure misses had it changed around 2 years ago.
I took the car to battery world and they did the test on it non running.
Measured
Volts 12.63
measured 626 cca
rating at 100% is 870 cca
He said it is in mid 70% and they usually change them when they get below 80%
your thoughts on battery stats?
cheers

Any chance there is air movement inside the cabin that could be setting off the alarm. For example, when I go camping, I have to isolate the inside sensing otherwise when my fridge starts up and the fan disturbs the air in the car, the alarm goes off.

Once i have had a few instances of slow starting i replace it but only after putting it on a charger overnight for a few nights just to confirm.

Thanks gents. Maybe one of the 2 sun shields moved a bit due to heat today and that set it off.. who knows. Nothing today no alarm going off.
Quick question, when D3 battery is replaced can it be just swapped or do I need to take it a shop to they can reset the computer etc.. Is there anything special about it. cheers

Just swap the battery and all is good.
When your alarm starts going off at 3 in the morning like mine did you will know it is the bonnet switch referred to by Brad. So if you're familiar with the Coodabeen Champions - Get Rid Of It! [biggrin]

You can bridge the switch with a paper clip. Mine has been bridged for years.189056
