Hey all of you over there in Perth.... sunny every day, glorious the very next and full of wonderful people! :) :) :)
Now that I've done my crawling intro....:D I'm looking for a couple of places for Robert & Martine to stay. All they need is a back yard reasonably near where their vehicle is coming in. They will even cook for the hosts, and I believe that they are EXCELLENT COOKS.:) They will also be very grateful if someone allowed their address to be used to send equipment for their vehicle so that they can fit it all at a local shop somewhere. Maybe a bunch of you AULRO'ians might want to organise a day to do it for them... in exchange for the best dang barbie you ever had?
They might be coming in early now, like August the 28th. Vehicle is expected in on around the 11th of Sept.
Here's a passage from their last email to me:
We will need an address in Perth to have the equipment sent indeed. Anybody in Perth area we could ask help from?
We would greatly appreciate if someone could put us up when we land in Perth right before our car arrives in Fremantle and until it is cleared from customs and quarantine, which should hopefully take a couple of days.
We will very likely need to stay in the area for a few days for the media contacts and also to get all our new equipment fitted. But he hope that we can camp somewhere not too far away from the city...or in someone's backyard? We will be very happy to do some cooking in return of the favor.
And since the wine seems to be widely availalbe in Oz, please note that we do a couple of pretty good stews with red or white wine sauce... Chicken Hunter or Beef Burgundy anyone?
By the way, since we will need a shop to install the new equipment in Perth, do you think we could possibly have the installing job sponsored by a shop?
Cheers guys - and TIA
Chris

I thought someone from Perth would've jumped at the chance by now to help out a fellow Landy Lover.

As I said, we could host them for a couple of days (probably no more though). We haven't got much of a back-yard, but we have a guest room, and we're about 20 mins from Freo (5 mins to the city).
Once they get their car though, we wouldn't have parking space for it, so they would probably have to move somewhere else.
We do have a good selection of wines to drink, err, cook with though ;)
Cheers,
Gordon

Was hoping to be settled in Esperance by the time they tour or get down that way. Will keep an eye on their progress and if possible meet up.

Thanks a lot Julien :)
Great to chat on the phone! I'm arranging parts to go to you at Discovery Automotive in Wangara and am informing Robert & Martine as I type. Thanks so much for helping out with fitment also. They will add you to their website shortly, and, as a sponsor, you'll need to get a sticker ready for their Defender. They are looking at getting a TV crew over to whoever fits the sponsored gear and include them in the story - and hopefully we'll know soon if that's possible. It should be great for you as your business will be considered as the "Starting Point" of their tour! Brush your hair that day!
Once again - what a great bunch of people we have here on AULRO.

I have had a couple guys come to us from the UK with their Landy's, the last guy had a 128" Land rover camper and it took 2 weeks to get through customs.

I am pretty sure I can find a spare bed or two for however long plus car accommodation should they need it whilst in Brisbane (*Caboolture), so long as they don't mind the cat sticking its nose into everything, gonna get killed one day that cat.:D

I have just sent some info on DOTARS, AQIS and Customs to them so they can start to get their documents in order, i take it they will be re exporting the 110 when they leave so no import permits are required but as its a used vehicle AQIS will need to inspect it and most likely send it for steam cleaning.
