Hi guys,
First time post. Have owned a 2008 Disco 3 HSE TDV6 for nearly two years. This forum has been helpful on a bunch of issues I've had. However on this one I can't find a solid answer.
After sorting out some electrical issues the other day, I decided to get around to the key fob issue I've had for 6 months. Manual entry only for the last 6 months. Key fob only working intermittently for a few months before that. I'd pulled apart the fob and tried a new battery but didn't help. I decided I'd try the common green splice that's talked about in the wire loom on the passenger (left) side and make sure that this was not my issue. I'm not convinced that it's not the fob, but seeing as I was working on some wiring stuff thought I may as well have a look.

It took a bit of getting into but got the wire loom accessible but there is absolutely no 3 wire splice to be found. I have searched from the front of the footwell to the rear passenger footwell. I'm certain it's not there and have seen some comments from other 2008 owners that have also failed to find the infamous "3 green wire splice", including someone who's fixed quite a few of these in other discos, but none of those have been answered with any info, ie. wiring change or maybe on drivers side? Is there anyone here that has found an answer to some of the disco 3s not having this central locking wire splice in the same location, or maybe at all? Any help would be great. I didn't want to put it all back together before asking the question.
Cheers
Sworley

Does the electrical manual show the location of the splices? My L322 manual shows splices and their position, in mm, from a connector (see below).

In this diagram, the final number is the distance in mm, e.g., 150mm, 315mm, 3085mm.

189191

Perhaps used in conjunction with this:

189192

In the circuit diagrams there are this type of diagram:

189193

I haven't been able to make sense of the wiring diagrams. The wiring diagrams I've found say they are for everything from 2004-2009 and so it should be exactly the same in all of them, but there obviously isn't the same splice in the same location for mine, and even those who have found the same splice it seems to vary as to exactly where it is, although, it always is within the loom on passenger side front door sil.

Did you find this thread:

Yes. I'm pretty certain this is one of the threads that has some comments from people confirming it wasn't in their disco 2008, but no response to those comments, that I remember.

Were you able to locate the splice? I also have a 2008 HSE LR3 and cannot find the splice. I've searched the length of the passenger side wire loom and followed every green and white wire with no luck.

Mine is a 2006 model and when I bought it in 2015 the fobs would not work. I followed the instructions in a thread on AULRO that I haven't found in wanting to respond to this.

The 'green wire fix' is related to water in the joint in the wires most commonly occurring due to a leaky sunroof. This Disco3 thread (https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic54235-150.html) has a number of pictures to help identify the position (page 10 is best). However the thread does not reference specific year models that have the specific wires in the loom.

This 'fix' did not address my issue. I even replaced the receiver in the roof lining which didn't resolve it. A trip to the local dealer to try to solve the issue resulted in them telling me that the car did not have a 433Mhz receiver and fobs when it left the factory and that it had been modified in Australia :bat:

My issue was that the rechargable batteries in the fobs were totally dead and once I replaced the batteries all was well with locking and unlocking the vehicle with the fobs! [bigsad]
