View Full Version : Red Light Stays On After Starting 2.4 Puma 130

You may recall my other posts about a recurring Immobilizer issue that seems to come and go on my 2.4 Puma 130. Despite numerous experts looking over the truck and suggesting all sorts of reasons the problem still persists. Lately however when starting the engine the red light on the dash which flashes intermittently when locking and unlocking the vehicle stays on solid red after starting and does so until I switch the engine off. The next start the light stays off.

If anyone can shed some light onto why this is happening and what I can do to prevent this it would be much appreciated.

Another annoying thing that seems to also be occurring is that after a week or so of the vehicle not being started the battery is low or almost flat despite nothing that would draw power such as a light or radio being on. I had the battery tested after recharging it and it is fine.

It is starting to dull my enthusiasm for the vehicle and with a proposed trip in August out to the Kimberly's I would like to sort these issues out.

Thanks

the light staying on is generally the battery in the fob (remote) needs replacing.

One way to trace a parasitic draw is to check current across fuses. Not hard to do, but a little tedious. One other way is to park the car with everything switched off for some time to let things cool and use a thermal camera to see any heat in fuses. A hot one is drawing current. The difference may not be much, but it will be visible. Then check what that fuse is protecting and go from there. Of course, you may need to borrow said camera.
