About to head abroad…..so many eSIM to pick from.

Anybody point me in the right direction for which one to use??

Okeydoke…..it for Nepal and not many offer eSIM for Nepal.

Can you get an eSIM for your own local service and then get a normal one in country? I'm assuming you want dual SIM.

No, just want local, no need for dual SIM…..

Bad timing but we are currently negating the sale of our house just when we are heading overseas for 5 weeks and real estate and solicitors will need to communicate with us.

Although I don’t really know how much reception we’ll get trekking the Annupurna….

For data when overseas I use an app called Airalo for eSIMs. They have Nepal listed as an option.

Once I arrive and can connect to a free wifi network (airport or hotel), I then buy the eSIM, download and install, and then activate by connecting to the local network.

So far has worked trouble free across South America and Asia. Have not been to Nepal to test but can’t see any reason it wouldn’t work.

The Nepal offering is with Patancell and is 1GB of data for 7 days for USD10.

Yeah - I still find it a bit tricky. The Airalo app includes detailed instructions.

In theory you can pre-buy and install before you go, but I find it gets confused so instead I wait until I arrive and can install and connect to the local network at the same time. Just turn data roaming off from the Primary SIM card.

You do need to make sure your phone is eSIM capable.

No idea how good this mob is, but we used Orange holiday eSIM in Europe last year which worked really well using iPhones so we could keep our Telstra real Sim in the phone as well.

Ended up getting a SIM card……even through the chaos it just seemed simpler
