2014 Disco 4 - no tow hitch?

Hey all,
Im in buying mode - looking for a late model disco 4.
Ive found one that I'm fairly set on (2014), but the owner doesnt have the factory tow hitch (but also doesn't seem too knowlegable).
Is there any hidey-hole the original hitch may be stored in that i can check when i inspect it?
If there was never one supplied, would the wiring still be in place?

If not, what should i be looking out for when trying to find a genuine OEM one? I'd really like to stick to OEM, to keep it lower and out of the way. My driveway is pretty steep and the rear of the boat trailer needs all the help it can get in not dragging on the tarmac at the bottom of the drive.

Ignore the OEM one. It sits far too low for Australia and may not clear your driveway. Best option is to get a Mitch Hitch.
I could be wrong, but I think all Australian D4's had the trailer wiring. Simple to check, just undo the cover on the rear bumper. There should one white and one black trailer plug.
The tow ball is housed in the rear left side cubby box.

I bought my D4 (also 2014) from an original owner who had never towed or included tow options at purchase - it still had the tow hitch receiver in LH cubby hole & wiring setup per DieselSE advice, but did not include a tow tongue (approx $300 for OEM).

The receiver hitch does make the tow ball sit lower, but not as low as the previous plough version on the D3. If there's no hitch receiver then a mitch hitch would be cheaper option.

Also be aware that load resistors are needed to allow tow mode to activate on trailers with LED lights.

Thanks!Tow receiver is behind a removable panel on the LHS of the cargo area. Not the bin in the top of the side panel. The jack lives behind the corresponding panel on the RHS of the cargo area.

Pretty sure the lr factory "phallic" tow hitch as sold in the uk is not compliant to ADR, so it should have a boss that inserts into the receiver thats hidden behind and under the centre rear bumper cover, then a std 50mm HR style square hitch tongue can be fitted. This is what we had abd towed all over this wide brown land with no issues. The tow tongue can be flipped over so that you tow level, we used a Trigg polyblock hitch and i had a second standard 50mm tow ball on another 50mm hr hitch.

Note mc hitch is now out of business, so it msy be hard to get service and support. not sure if the new owners are any good...

I think you are confusing the Mc Hitch caravan coupling with the Mitchell Bros, Mitch Hitch which is a tow bar. They have not gone out of business.

Yes as I indicated earlier that is the caravan coupling - the similar named towbar from Mitchell Bros (different company) continues to trade.
