I have noticed this in a few publications. First time was in a VFG ( Visual Flight Guide ), which was a loose leaf folder thing... At the end there were a number of pages with "THIS PAGE IS INTENTIONALLY BLANK" printed on them.

Apart from the obvious inaccuracy ( they are NOT blank), what is the point? Why not just omit them altogether?

Why are Some Pages "Intentionally Left Blank" and Why Do They Say This? (https://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2016/11/pages-intentionally-left-blank-say/)

Loved the Bonus Fact at the bottom
............Instead of stating “This page is intentionally left blank”, they wrote on one blank page (http://www.todayifoundout.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/page-blank.jpg) “This page is intended to be blank. Please do not read it”…..

The other place it commonly gets used is in loose-leaf reporters, like legal journals. If they re-write a section and it gets shorter or longer there will be a blank page. Those words make it clear that the section did actually end there and the librarian didn't forget to put all the updated pages in.

Although these days, with most reporters on-line, it's less of an issue.

Something like that...... except the VFG where first saw this was a multi ring loose leaf binder.... Anything could be removed or inserted, and the pages were the final ones in the binder. Still, I guess protocols must be followed.

It was just a curiosity in an idle moment.

Probably a photocopy of the book or ready for double sided photocopying without getting the pages changed

In education we do it so that nobody freaks out at a blank page while thinking they have missing print error. Page numbers with Page 1 of 2 format is also used for this reason.

The blank pages are usually to do with double sided printing, with starting a new sections on a new page, and detachable sheets not removing exam content such as answer sheets. We also have to create a back page which is blank to that the exam can be issued without exposing it.

Many years since I used a VFG, but given the multitude of publications one is suppose to read and be familiar with, I would welcome such a page! [bigsmile]

However, from what I do recall it is to do with installing updates in the ring folder so that the existing page numbering is not altered in that edition. I just don't remember why TBH, or how the updated numbering was printed.

Only page(s) in the bloody thing I remember with complete accuracy.

I said complete accuracy.... but I don't recall if they were numbered. There were more than one, all consecutive.
