Wondering if anyone has any feedback on one of these units for my RRS?
Don't know a price yet, but it ticks some boxes for me.
I'm not into carrying spares on the roof, and the Sport is not good for space for water/fuel.

Look up 'tow hitch basket carrier' on any search engine and you will see most can carry at least 200kg. That is effectively doing the same job, so maybe check out the comments of people who have taken these offroad.

I'm ok with the hitch loading as I'm using a McHitch or what ever its called.
I've looked at their website, and surprisingly, everyone is very happy with their product!!! and that may be totally true, I was just hoping someone on this forum may have some direct input.

I tried one.

They work well, but you will need to get a custom set-up if you use the standard hitch. The carrier is not sitting high enough to clear the rear bumper. It sits on it very tightly, as you can see in the second photo, slightly scratching it. However, the supplier can do that and they simply weld the holders a bit higher, probably 20-30mm. I was concerned that any bounce might still damage the bumper bar. They are rather heavy to lift, I could do it myself, but anybody who has any back or hip issues would require help to mount them.

You can get them shipped directly from the supplier or a reseller.

I decided against it because I needed more space and had to get a roof set-up anyway for awning and tools (see third photo). It makes accessing the boot easier too, though the swing works fine. Total cost early last year including shipping would have been around $2k including accessories (2 can holder, 1 spare wheel holder, shovel holder).

A thought re water - I bought the water that comes in cardboard boxes from Woolies/Coles etc, 5 and 10 litre boxes. They are much smaller then jerry cans and a bit more flexible.
Advantage: 1) redundant water containers in case one leaks or is accidentally emptied, 2) easily fold up when empty 3) sizes are small enough to be stored all across the car in different corners/not bulky.
I was surprised when I ventured into the Outback last year that most if not every service station, roadhouse or hotel sold them. So easy to replenish.
I took 45 litres with me, and replaced them on the road when I used one up, so came back with 30 litres...

Means more space for fuel jerry cans on the carrier or roof! :-)
