Last week I got a call from a guy with a written off, flood damaged RRS asking if I wanted some tyres.
I've told a few people in Adelaide I was looking, so it came from that.
I was really just looking for rims so I could put some semi off road tyres on them.
I rocked up last weekend and collected 5 rims and new tyres!!! Nothing else worth having as he has sold pretty much everything else. He had a full payout on insurance, and wasn't interested in making a fortune on the wheels/tyres, which suited me just fine.
He fitted new tyres 8 weeks ago (yes, I saw the receipt) and his wife wanted rid of the 5 rims and tyres, so I obliged her and ended up with 4 rims/tyres with 400km on them, and a spare rim/tyre with no km on it.
I made 2 trips to my local tyrefitter (didn't realise how little space there is in the RRS!) and he checked the tyres and rims and they were all fine and needed no balancing at all.
Put them on last Sunday and they drive like a dream. Gripmax have had some good write ups in the South African 4x4 scene, so I guess I'll keep driving on them and see how they last.
For $250 the lot, they were bloody good value.
