Just got an email tonight re Pivotel offering to change to another system at a special rate. They are also offering to maybe buy the old phone back, depending on condition age etc.
Hears hoping.

I was talking to a friend in town on Tuesday, and he mentioned in passing that he has a couple of non functioning satphones, and it wasn't coming back. I think this must be what he was talking about.

Interesting announcement by at this weeks WWDC. Seems that texting, including RCS messaging apparently, will be possible over satellite. This follows last years announcement of SOS messages via satellite.
I imagine the devil will be in the detail, but interesting nevertheless. One wonders which sat service it will be linked to, and of course which providers.

I would do that, but my 13Pro isn't supported. Waiting for 16.

Looks like Telstra customers will be able to text via satellite, but only with newer phones.

Yes, and they have even included some limited features on the previously unsupported 13 model phones.
